The team at HMS Belfast, the most significant surviving Second World War Royal Navy warship approached us to develop a new navigation strategy that simplifies the visitor experience onboard the vessel. We successfully created a clear guidance system whilst maintaining a likening approach to the environment.

Identifying the problem
When mash-design took on this project, an exploded diagram was the method of navigation around the ship. We deemed this too complicated and confusing so we took it into our hands to simplify the process for our visitors.
A clear strategy
We married a clear colour palette and simplified icons together to enable visitors on board the vessel to have a far clearer understanding of how to navigate around the site.
Our new strategy has received praise from visitors, helping to successfully guide them through the ship's many rooms whilst marrying legibility with a sympathetic approach to their settings.
